George Michael is bringing ‘The Faith Tour‘ to cinemas — a film capturing a previously unseen concert recorded in Paris in 1988. The film brings together footage from two shows the singer performed on 30 and 31 May of that year at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy, during the European leg of his ‘Faith‘ album tour.
The material was shot using 14 35mm cameras and had been lost for nearly four decades. Following an extensive restoration and remastering process, the recording covers the bulk of the tour’s setlist, featuring tracks from both his time in Wham! and his solo debut ‘Faith‘, released in 1987 and which went on to sell over 25 million copies worldwide.
The film is directed by Andy Morahan and David Austin, long-time collaborators of George Michael, and produced by George Michael Entertainment and Mercury Studios. Each screening will be preceded by ‘Finding Faith‘, a short film by Mary McCartney featuring previously unseen photographs of the artist taken by Herb Ritts, alongside a narrated interview by Michael himself. The release will be accompanied by a live album of previously unreleased recordings, continuing in the vein of earlier releases such as the ‘Faith’ reissue.
‘George Michael: The Faith Tour‘ will open internationally on 4 November, in the UK on 6 November through Universal Pictures, and in the US and Canada on 11 December via Bleecker Street.
