Kylie Minogue headlined the pre-match show at the Toyota AFL Grand Final 2026 on Saturday — the showpiece of the Australian rules football league and the country’s equivalent of the Super Bowl. The singer performed at 1:00pm local time at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in her home city, in front of more than 100,000 spectators and in the rain. It was her first appearance at the event.
The show opened with a video featuring footage from her childhood in Melbourne, narrated by Kylie herself. Over 20 minutes, she ran through hits from across her career accompanied by dancers, fireworks and multiple costume changes. For the finale, she emerged from an enormous red balloon transformed into a mirror ball and flew over the stadium suspended on a platform. The performance featured several guests: William Barton played guitar on ‘Confide in Me’, and G Flip, who had opened the musical programme earlier in the day, returned to the stage for a pop-rock rendition of ‘Padam Padam’.
The performance follows the release of her Netflix documentary and collaborations with Madonna on a remix of ‘Love Sensation’ and with Snow Patrol on ‘These Alarms’. After the show, the Brisbane Lions beat the Fremantle Dockers to claim their third consecutive title.
