Miley —who as of today is going by her first name only professionally, dropping «Cyrus» from all her social media accounts— has announced that ‘Bass Persuades‘, her tenth studio album, will be released on 18 September via Atlantic Records. It marks her first record outside Columbia Records, where she released ‘Something Beautiful‘ (2025). The cover art was shot by Mert Alas.
A short teaser shared on her social media offers clues about the sound: the artist is seen playing guitar over an industrial rock instrumental in which the bass takes centre stage, before the track shifts into something closer to pop.
The album’s collaborators reinforce its experimental character: Model/Actriz, whose album ‘Pirouette‘ was one of the standout records of 2025, appears on ‘Different Religion‘, while Andrew Wyatt of Miike Snow —a go-to producer for Lady Gaga, Lorde and Bruno Mars— contributes to ‘Neon Signs‘. Miley has described the project in her own words: «Music takes hold of us. We feel it, we sing it, sometimes we dance to it, we let it out and move on. It’s powerful, vulnerable, sweet and strong. A full heart, a broken heart, and everything in between. That’s what the title means to me. Thank you for being part of making my biggest dreams come true. I truly hope you love this album».
